Ayushmann Khurrana had won hearts with his 2017 release Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, and the makers soon decided on the films sequel. Now, reports have emerged suggesting the lead actor will be seen essaying a gay character.
While the Bhumi Pednekar starrer comedy dealt with the touchy subject of erectile dysfunction, the sequel reportedly titled as Shubh Mangal Zyaada Saavdhan is said to tackle the story of a father learning to accept his son’s sexuality.
Bhumi is not expected to return, but Mirzapur actor Divyendu Sharma is said to play the pivotal role of Ayushmann’s partner. Hitesh Kewalya, writer of the original, will step into the director’s shoes for Shubh Mangal Zyaada Saavdhan, produced by Aanand L Rai. The sequel will go on the floors in September.
Ayushmann just wrapped up Anubhav Sinha’s Article 15 and will be seen with Bhumi in Amar Kaushik’s next Bala.
