It is said that getting an actress married is perhaps the most difficult task for her family. Others who have married outside the industry often have confessed that their husbands find it extremely unsettling to see them romance another man onscreen. For a very long time when actress Chitrangada waltzed into the film industry, she claimed that her husband Jotir Randwa completely understood the needs and requirements of the profession and was extremely supportive of her decision to live in Mumbai and shuttle when required.
However, with time and the demands of her work, things began to worsen between the couple and the couple is now divorced. Whether it was the rumours that had her linked with her directors and co-actors or was it Jotir’s lack of understanding of the profession, they are not saying.
Recently National Award winning actress, Rituparna Sengupta confessed that it is extremely difficult for a married woman with children to be a professional actress. “My husband gets very unsettled every time I have an intimate scene with a co-actor,” quipped the actress. The actress when onto say that since the kind of roles that come to her n Bengali cinema are a lot more different and solid as compared to the Bollywood requirements, her husband prefers that she sticks to Bengali cinema rather than make a foray into commercial Bollywood.
There are loads of demands on an actress in Bollywood, and keeping up with it can be really tough, not everyone can manage to understand and look beyond what appears as ‘intimacy’ on screen. At the end of the day, it appears that men want their women all for themselves and even acting out intimate scenes is something that is completely beyond their realm of understanding. Clearly when actresses say it is best that they marry within the industry, it completely makes sense.
