Anupam Kher is currently stationed in the USA for the extensive shoot schedule of his highly-anticipated NBC’s series, ‘New Amsterdam’. During the same, he received an invite from the authorities of United Nations Headquarters to hoist the Indian National flag as the Chief Guest on the eve of India’s Independence Day.

Knowing the generous nature of the veteran Bollywood star, he gladly obliged. In fact, he even posted videos and images from the Independence Day celebration including the flag hoisting moment. Posting one of the videos, he also wrote an emotional caption saying, “#IndiaDayParade at #NewJersey today was a very emotional and a memorable day for me. It was the most amazing feeling to see tricolour flying high. Thousands of fellow Indians came on the streets to celebrate what it means to be an Indian. Jai Hind. #BharatMataKiJai #IndiaInAmerica #IndianFlag #GrandMarshal.”

When he had received the invitation of hoisting the flag at New Jersey, Anupam Kher had said, “It feels amazing and it’s one of my proudest moments to be able to be part of flag hoisting ceremony on the 15th of August, the Independence Day of our country at the United Nations and also at the Consul General’s office. All our lives we have done flag hoisting in schools and colleges. For the first time, I’ll be part of such a huge ceremony. I think our national flag represents our sense of joy, pride and honour and I’ll be representing millions of people in India abroad. I’m very humbled and honoured.”
