Karan Johar who launched Alia Bhatt in his directorial venture STUDENT OF THE YEAR, said that  comparing Kareena Kapoor Khan and Alia is just ‘unfair’ during the trailer launch of his upcoming movie HUMPTY SHARMA KI DULHANIA. The filmmaker has teamed up with the 21-year-old HIGHWAY girl for his production venture HUMPTY SHARMA KI DULHANIA this time. Karan said to the reporters at the event, “There is only one Kareena Kapoor and I am not only a huge fan of hers on the celluloid, I also like her personally. I am very close to her and Kareena and Alia are two different people.” He further added, “Kareena has created a tremendous niche for herself and set a bar so high that it’s unfair to compare her with Alia. Alia has her individual charm and I am sure even Alia will make her own space.”

Talking about the film Alia told the reporters, “The film is a complete filmi love story.”  Also, the film is said to be a tribute to ‘DILWALE DULHANIA LE JAYENGE’ (DDLJ) in which Karan had also played a small part as Shah Rukh Khan’s character’s fan. The filmmaker, who had also assisted director Aditya Chopra, said that every filmmaker wants to have at least one frame of DDLJ in their film but later clarified that HUMPTY… is not a copy of Shah Rukh-Kajol’s 1995 starrer DDLJ.

Karan said, “I was the assistant director with DDLJ. I have the best memories with this film. It (HUMPTY….) is an epic love story and it’s not a copy of that film. It’s a different film and I feel every filmmaker wants to have at least one frame in their film from the beautiful film DDLJ.”

|Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt are the lead pair of Karan Johar’s production venture HUMPTY SHARMA KI DULHANIA which also marks Shashank Khaitan’s directorial venture. Television actor Siiddarth Shukla, known for his role as Shiv in TV show “Balika Vadhu”, is also making his debut in Bollywood through this film.
