New Delhi: Bollywood powerhouse Ajay Devgn’s ‘Bhuj: The Pride of India’ is coming to the theatres near you on August 14, 2020. Indian film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter handle to announce the release date of the film.
He wrote, “Release date finalized… #BhujThePrideOfIndia to release on 14 Aug 2020… Stars Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Parineeti Chopra, Rana Daggubati and Ammy Virk… Directed by Abhishek Dudhaiya. #IndependenceDayWeekend.” The film stars Ajay in the lead role. Apart from him, it also features Parineeti Chopra, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Rana Daggubati and Ammy Virk in pivotal roles.
Ajay will be seen essaying the role of Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik in the film while Parineeti will play ‘femme fatale’ Heena Rehman. Sonakshi will portray social worker Sunderben Jetha Madharparya, Sanjay will play civilian Ranchordas Svabhai Ravari, Rana will be seen playing a lieutenant colonel from the Madras Regiment and Ammy will essay the role of a fighter pilot.
The film was announced on Tuesday by Ajay. He took to his Twitter handle to share the news. The film will be helmed by Abhishek Dudhaiya and will be based on real-life events during Indo-Pak war of 1971. Bhushan Kumar is bankrolling the upcoming film.
Reportedly, Karnik was in-charge of the Bhuj airbase during the 1971 war, which remained operational despite of facing heavy bombing from Pakistan. He was accompanied by 50 air force and 60 defence security personnel at the airbase. Karnik and his team reconstructed the destroyed Indian Air Force airstrip at Bhuj, Gujarat with the help of local women. The team convinced around 300 women from a nearby village to help them rebuild the airstrip so that a flight carrying Indian Army officers could land safely.
