AB Jr. has long been associated with Magic Bus, India’s largest NGO that works towards creating a better future for over a million children living in poverty. The actor was recently in Singapore and Hyderabad to raise funds for the schooling of 30,000 underprivileged children, in collaboration with Magic Bus.

In the past, too, Abhishek has raised funds towards the cause by organising the “Playing for Humanity” celebrity football matches, and also has also contributed a percentage of the proceeds from the ticket sales of his kabbadi team’s matches. Abhishek attended the fund-raising charity dinners, proceeds of which went towards the education of underprivileged children from Maharashtra, Telengana and Andhra Pradesh.

When contacted, Abhishek said, “The incredible work that this organisation is doing to support around 4,00,000 children amazes me. I’m happy that my contribution at the Singapore and Hyderabad benefit dinners will go towards building the future of 30,000 children.” Matthew Spacie, founder of Magic Bus, put on record his gratefulness for “Abhishek’s constant encouragement and advocacy of the cause, enabling our work in 2500 of India’s poorest slums and villages.” Nice one, AB!

Next we have the lovely inside-out Jacqueline Fernandez, who helped build homes in Tamil Nadu. The huge destruction caused by the incessant rains last year in Tamil Nadu led to loss of lives, assets, households and livelihood of the people. While it is already out of the memory of most of the people, there are still a few who are putting in their best to help the affected victims rebuild their homes and restart their lives.

Jacqueline Fernandez is one of them. The actress has joined hands with an NGO, Habitat for Humanity, and they have in unison launched a Tamil Nadu Flood Relief Campaign ‘Jacqueline Builds’. For her initiative funds are being raised to build these houses and the help the victims. On collection of enough funds Jacqueline will be visiting Chennai and manually building houses for the victims.

Jacqueline’s team is leaving no stone unturned as they also largely feel towards the cause the actress is supporting. They are putting in their best to help the actress on her initiative. The actress’s entire team, her manager, her assistant, her hair and make-up artist, her spot and her driver have lent their support to the cause by contributing as possible much in their capacity. This is surely called amazing team work! Jacqueline shares, “It is grievous to see that people don’t have a shelter over their head during such a calamity. It is truly heart-breaking. My team feels likewise and has extended their support to the cause.”

And last but not least, Anushka Ranjan. The actress who made her debut with WEDDING PULAV, recently presented an acting scholarship to a kid with Down Syndrome. Like her parents – Anu and Shashi Ranjan, the talented actress Anushka Ranjan also believes in giving back to society and supports social causes.

On World Down Syndrome Day, the gorgeous actress attended an annual programme of kids diagnosed with Down syndrome at St. Andrews auditorium in Mumbai and presented scholarship to a student named Arshita Shetty who wants to pursue acting as a profession.

The scholarship has been bestowed upon Arshita by Indian Television Academy (ITA), founded by Anu and Shashi Ranjan. Anushka, who also represented her NGO ‘BETI – A Charity for Women’ run by her mother Anu Ranjan at the event, was accompanied by composer-singer-actor Shankar Mahadevan as the Guest of Honour who were also invited to light the diya for the annual programme.
