As the Lok Sabha Elections are right around the corner, we see campaigns all round us urging to vote, politicians wooing their constituencies and making absurd promises (many which never get fulfilled whatsoever). Amid all of this hullabaloo, we came across a throwback video of Aamir Khan from his television show Satyamev Jayate, explaining the scenario during Indian elections with the help of a funny story.
Set in the backdrop of Benares, the story has two characters- Munna (a kid) and Mamaji (uncle). The narrative begins with Munna touching Mamaji’s feet asking him if he recognises him. After a brief introduction the duo set out to tour the city. Hopping from one temple to the other, they reach Ganges, where Munna urges Mamaji to take a dip in the holy water. Once out, Mamaji realises that Munna has run off with his clothes, leaving him on the banks with just a towel to wrap around.
Explaining the moral of the story, Khan relates it to the Indian elections, wherein a politician who is contesting polls is Munna, who comes around this time making false promises and once you give in and vote they runaway, while the voter who is Mamaji, is left waiting for those promises to be fulfilled.
