Is how Nishigandha Wad describes her part in the film ‘In The Name of Tai’
Nishigandha Wad has opted for a bold avatar at this churn of her life.”This role is thoroughly an untried one, I guess. The character I play is all in all a real life character which refreshes the histrionic element affiliated to the woman who underwent the torture. Obviously, it is a bold film based on certain impactful issues and hence choosing this film was a must,” says Nishi smilingly.
Directed and produced by Ujjwal V Thengdi, the Hindi feature film ‘In The Name of Tai’ is female-oriented plot, where an educated village woman (lawyer), respectfully known as Tai, chooses a courageous but risky path. On the other hand, she unfortunately suffers in her personal life, yet altruistically fights for shielding a few acres of land owned by the village farmers. Inspired from the real life story of slain activist lawyer Navleen Kumar, it is a very hard hitting film. “I am privileged that the film has been directed by Ujjwal in a meticulous manner. It was indeed a feel good status to do this mind blowing character,” says Nishigandha.
In heartfelt support she says, “Playing Tai the protagonist, I am sure my intriguing character will keep the audiences glued onto the silver screen in the movie and it was a pleasure to be a part of this film. The movie keeps the audience inquisitive as each one awaits the consequences of knowing the ultimate repercussions faced by Tai.”
Nishi managed doing a serial as well as the film simultaneously, “Working for the idiot box as well as doing this film was indeed not a big deal. Where there is will there is a way. I had to commute from one location to the other so I managed my time accurately.”
Last but not the least, Nishi quips, “I am busy with my television shows. And whatever films come my way I choose from those. I am happy with this wonderful return to the silver screen.”
‘In The Name of Tai’ released on October 12.
