Ranveer Singh with his ‘83 co-stars is currently shooting for the sports drama, which will tell the tale of India’s first heroic world cup win in 1983. India won the final match against West Indies around 36 years ago and to play the other side, makers have roped in Malcolm Marshall’s son Mali to play his role.
A Mumbai Mirror report suggests, director Kabir Khan confirmed the news saying, “Yes we are thrilled to have Mali Marshall, son of the legend Malcolm Marshall play the role of his father. Not only does he look like his father but his bowling action is also exactly like him. As we all know, Malcolm Marshall was part of the fearsome West Indies quartet of pace bowlers—Marshall, Michael Holding, Joel Garner and Andy Roberts.”
The rest of the team has been training together and Ranveer has shared several BTS clips and snaps, but recently the actor shared the reel team’s first look on field. He also announced the film’s release date as, April 10 2020.
The team has been training under cricket legends Mohinder Amarnath, Kapil Dev and Balvinder Singh Sandhu. They have begun shooting in Dharamshala, and will move to England for the rest of the schedule.
While Ranveer Singh will lead the reel team as Kapil Dev , the rest of the team stars Ammy Virk, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem and also Pankaj Tripathi in the role of team manager Man Singh.
