Gujarat High Court has sought reply from Human Resource Development (MHRD) and the National Testing Agency over a PIL which claimed that wrong questions and answers appeared in the JEE Mains Exam for Gujarati medium students in April.
According to PIL, some questions and answers appeared in physics and mathematics papers for Gujarati medium students were wrong. The concerned exam was conducted on April 9 in the first shift. Gujarat High Court’s Justice Biren Vaishnav sent notices to HRD ministry and NTA over the issue and sought a reply by May 20.
According to a report by DNA, Anurag Pathak, the petitioner, mentioned in the PIL that he appeared in JEE MAINS Exam for Bachelor of Engineering on April 9 in the first shift. He appeared in the examination in Gujarati medium. Pathak alleged that question number 7 in Physics question paper was completely wrong for all the candidates who appeared for the exam in Gujarati medium on that particular day in the first shift. Similarly, he claimed that Mathematics paper’s question no. 13 had all wrong answers as options.
The PIL also claimed that about 5000 to 6000 students appeared on that particular shift on April 9 for the exam. Notably, only the papers of Gujarati version had faults while the English and Hindi version was correct. Hardik Shah, advocate of Pathak, has appealed that the due to this fault, common rank of Gujarati medium students has been affected and they will face problems to get good engineering colleges while applying for admission. Therefore, the PIL has urged to revise the results of all the Gujarati medium students who appeared for the exam on that particular shift on April 9.
