Tamil Nadu: Researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) have created a programme called "PIVOT" that uses artificial intelligence to forecast a person's risk for developing cancer. Ultimately, this tool will aid in developing individualised cancer treatment plans.

Nearly one in six deaths globally in 2020 were attributed to cancer, according to the World Health Organization. To create effective, individualised cancer treatment plans, it is crucial to identify the genes that are causing cancer.

Researchers at IIT Madras created "PIVOT," which aims to identify genes that are likely to contribute to a person's development of cancer. The findings of the research have been published in a peer-reviewed journal Frontier in Genetics.
