Ruia’s College’s flagship sporting event gets students out of the classroom and into the fields, finds Apoorva Nanjangu.
inter-college sporting event in which students from all over MumbaiIt is an event that the entire college looks forward to playing host for so many sports enthusiasts from all over the city.
Colosseum 2012 was a huger success according to the students, since it was hosted and on a grander scale. With brands like Yonex, sponsoring the event, Colosseum made sure it appealed to the buzzing energy of the participants.
The quadrangle of Ruia College was temporarily converted into a sports arena, which was enough to give a surge of adrenaline for even the non-sports enthusiasts and the ones who waited for it, were needless to say, high. The events for Colosseum 2012, were mainstream, yet exciting. The spread of events had badminton for the agile, rink football for the speedy, box cricket for the balanced and chess for the masterminds, which brought out the best from every participant.
This year, the event witnessed some really great competitions and an altogether superior level of preparedness from the participants, which was exactly what the committe members were working towards.
These events went through a couple of rounds, before the winners were declared post the final rounds. It was indeed a great spectacle to witness adrenaline and enthusiasm on the Ruia quadrangle, inspiring everybody present there.
Colosseum was followed by the Ruia Cup, which was an exclusive inter-team sports event of the Ruia’s student body, Vidyarthi Pratinidhi Mandal (VPM).
