Mumbai: Sachin Yadav and Akash Parkar powered Souvenir Cricket Club into the last four of the 70th Nawab Salar Jung Invitation T20 Cricket Tournament 2019 and played at the Islam Gymkhana ground on Wednesday. After being put to bat, Souvenir, led by Yadav (96) and Parkar (85) saw the post 210 runs, and later Asif Shaikh and skipper Usman Malvi saw Young Mohammedans’ quest for win fall short by 113 runs and a place in the semifinal.

Souvenir CC piled up a massive 211 runs for four wickets from their 20 overs and then bundled out Young Mohammedans for 98 runs in with 23 deliveries to spare. Young Mohammedan decision to put the opponents to strike did reap good results as they had three of their top batsmen back in the dug out, with just 22 runs on the board in the third over. But, the left-handed Sachin and Akash, rebuilt their innings adding 163 run for the fourth wickets in 16.3 overs.

Sachin’s 52-ball knock was studded with 11 boundaries and four sixes while Akash’s unbeaten innings came from 54 balls with eight hits to the fence and three over them. Roshan Ade was the most successful bowler for Young Mohammedans with two for 28 runs. In another quarter-final match, P J Hindu Gymkhana defeated Muslims United SC by 36 runs. Hindu Gymkhana were dismissed for 168 in 19.5 overs and they then restricted Muslims United to 132 for 9 wickets in 20 overs.

P J Hindu Gymkhana 168 all out in 19.5 overs (Megh Adharyu 94; Sachin Chaudhary 3/28, Rajesh Sundar 3/37) beat Mumbai Muslims 132 for 9 wickets in 20 overs (Rajesh Tandel 56, Rajesh Sardar 36; Aman Maniyar 3/15, Kavi Priyam 2/17) by 36 runs.

Patil shines for DMCC

Vaibhav Patil’s 56 runs knock helped D M Cricket Club (DMCC) score a 25-run victory against Mumbai Fire Brigade SC in a quarter-final match of the Air India Invitation T20 tournament organized by AirIndia Western Region and played at the Air India ground, Kalina on Wednesday. DMCC put on 158 for seven and later restricted Mumbai Fire Brigade scored 133 for the loss of eight wickets.
