After a long time, Rohit Sharma rocked with the bat, smashing 95 runs in the 4th ODI against Australia. Sharma’s record may have been overshadowed due to Shikhar Dhawan’s spectacular career-best innings of 143, but the knock proves that Rohit is not facing a slump of form ahead of World Cup 2019.

Rohit now has a nice opportunity to bag an elite record during the 5th ODI against Australia at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium in New Delhi. Rohit has smashed 7954 runs in 199 innings so far, and is just 46 runs away from reaching 8000 ODI runs.

If Rohit manages to score these runs in 4th ODI against Australia, he will not only enter the elite group of cricketers with 8K plus ODI runs but also become the third fastest along with Sourav Ganguly to reach the milestone. Former Indian cricketer and skipper Sourav Ganguly, who scored 11,263 runs in his ODI career, reached the milestone of 8000 runs in his 200th innings. Only Virat Kohli (175) and AB de Villiers (182) have achieved the feat in fewer innings.

Rohit will be looking to achieve the milestone in the 5th ODI, which is going to be the last ODI for Indian team before World Cup 2019. Such an achievement will be a great confidence-booster for the Indian opener ahead of World Cup.
