Wellington: Former New Zealand pace spearhead Shane Bond has been appointed as the bowling coach of Mumbai Indians for 2015 Indian Premier League (IPL) edition, which is scheduled to start on April 8.
Bond, who played 2010 IPL edition with Kolkata Knight Riders, would join fielding coach Jonty Rhodes (South Africa) and batting coach Robin Singh (India) as Ponting’s assistants.
Earlier, former Australian captain Ricky Ponting was hired as the heading coach of Mumbai Indians.
Bond said that it was his privilege to be associated with the most highly regarded franchise in the IPL, adding that he was looking forward to bring his cricketing experience to work alongside Ricky and the team, Stuff.co.nz reported.
However, Bond will step down as New Zealand bowling coach after World Cup.
