New Delhi: In the wake of the Bombay High Court’s order to shift all the Indian Premier League matches out of the drought-affected Maharashtra after April 30, Kings XI Punjab have moved their three matches from Nagpur to Dharamsala.
Kings XI were scheduled to play three matches against Delhi Daredevils, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad in Nagpur in May, but the High Court’s decision to move 13 matches out of the state due to water crisis propelled them to take the decision, ESPNcricinfo reported.
Meanwhile, Rising Pune Supergiants have selected Visakhapatnam as their new home venue while Mumbai Indians have opted for Jaipur.
Earlier, the court had allowed Pune to host IPL match between Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiants on May 1 after the BCCI appealed the court to allow the match, citing logistical and other difficulties in shifting to a different venue within 24 hours.
The development came after a PIL was filed by NGO ‘Loksatta Movement’ against hosting of the IPL matches in Maharashtra, which is facing severe water crisis.
