After four consecutive wins, it looks like Royal Challengers Bangalore doesn’t have any chances to lift the IPL 2019 trophy this time too, but former cricketer Sourav Ganguly feels that RCB has not been ruled out. Ganguly, who is also Delhi Capitals’ advisor in the current edition of IPL, feels that Virat Kohli played well in last season and it’s a passing phase for him in this season. “He played well last season, I think it’s a passing phase for him this season. The amount of runs he’s (Virat) scored for India, I guess no player is close to that”, Ganguly told IndiaTV.
Despite having big names like AB de Villiers, Parthiv Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal and Umesh Yadav in the team, RCB has annoyed its fans after losing four back-to-back matches in IPL 2019 at the start. They are positioned on the bottom of the points table at present and is the only team who has not won a single match till now.
Ganguly, however, feels that team needs to look ahead with a calm mind. “He (Virat) needs to take the backseat and think with a calm and composed mind with the team. There are still matches ahead. I won’t rule out RCB as there is still time and I hope to see him take the team forward,” RCB, who is hungry for a victory in IPL 2019, will face Kolkata Knight Riders today at their home ground M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
