The IPL 2019 is going to take a new turn as many foreign players are going back to their countries, to prepare for upcoming World Cup 2019. The performance of the teams is bound to be affected in such a scenario, as overseas players also have a great impact in IPL matches.
The exodus of overseas players has started with England, Australia and South Africa, whose players will return to their home for national duty. As the exodus begins, we take a look at which teams are going to lose which players and who will be their replacement.
Sunrisers Hyderabad
Jonny Bairstow (England) to be replaced by New Zealander Martin Guptill. SRH’s wicket keeper will also change as the team has options of Wriddhiman Saha and Sreevats Goswami.
David Warner (Australia) would be replaced by Kane Williamson, once the latter returns from New Zealand after death of his grandmother.
Chennai Super Kings
Leading wicket-taker Imran Tahir (South Africa) and Faf du Plessis (South Africa) are two players who will leave the team. CSK has Sam Billings as replacement, while they have to bank on their domestic players.
Mumbai Indians
Quinton de Kock (South Africa) and Jason Behrendorff (Australia) will be the key players missing in Mumbai Indians. Evin Lewis and Ishan Kishan can take the wicket-keeper slot instead of Quinton de Kock while Mitchell McClenaghan can be brought back.
Rajasthan Royals
Steve Smith (Australia), Jos Buttler (England), Ben Stokes (England) and Jofra Archer (England) are the players who are going to leave midway of IPL 2019. Rajasthan has options of Ashton Turner, Liam Livingstone, Ish Sodhi and Oshane Thomas to include the oversea quota of their team.
Kings XI Punjab
David Miller (South Africa) is expected to leave. Nicholas Pooran and Moises Henriques are two options to fill his place.
Kolkata Knight Riders
Joe Denly (England) is the only player KKR is going to lose. But his absence will not affect much as he do not have a permanent place in the team.
Royal Challengers Bangalore
Moeen Ali (England) and Marcus Stoinis (Australia) are two players who will be going back to their respective country for World Cup 2019 preparation. With these two out, RCB has Colin de Grandhomme, Shimron Hetmyer and Tim Southee to choose from.
Delhi Capitals
Kagiso Rabada (South Africa) will be leaving to join his South African teammates for World Cup preparation. Trent Boult can be brought back in his place.
