Johannesburg: Persistent downpour has washed out the fourth day of the second Test between Australia and West Indies at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Wednesday.  Due to continuous drizzling, the umpires had decided to suspend the play after the third day’s play was also called off without a ball being bowled. This is the fifth time in over a century of Test cricket in Australia where play had been abandoned for two consecutive days due to rain, Sport24 reported.

Earlier, opting to bat first, opener Kraigg Braithwaite smashed 85 runs to help his side reach 248-7 on the second day before rain disrupted the play.Meanwhile, Denesh Ramdin remained unbeaten on 30 and will try to resume his side’s inning when he will come to bat on the final day of the Test along with Kemar Roach. Australia have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match Test series following their 177-run win against West Indies in the second match in Melbourne.
