Praful Patel, Administrator of UT to soon start helpline senior citizens

Under the guidance and visionary and capable leadership of the Administrator of Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Praful Patel, with the purpose of providing assistance in respect of living, maintenance, legal matters, medical aid etc. to the senior citizens of the state. National Action Plan for Senior Citizens (NAPSrC) under the scheme, National Institute of Social Defense (NISD), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, Social Welfare Department, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu will soon have a helpline.

For the implementation of this scheme in the Union Territory, UP Industrial Consultants Ltd. (UPICON) Lucknow has been designated as the nodal agency. For this, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on 17th June, 2021 between Social Welfare Department Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu and UPICON. This MoU signed by Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Pooja Jain (IAS) and upicon, Lucknow, Rajat Tripathi, Project Head (NHSC).

Giving more details regarding the helpline of senior citizens, Deputy Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Jatin Goyal, informed that all the citizens of the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu will be benefited from the said helpline and in Daman by the nodal agency organization upicon. Helpline center will be set up. This helpline will be active seven days a week from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. Under this scheme, Field Response Leader (FRL) and Field Response Officer will be posted at the field level for speedy resolution of the problems of senior citizens at the field level.

With the active initiative of Hon'ble Administrator Praful Patel, this initiative will prove to be a milestone in the direction of solving the problems of senior citizens in the Union Territory.
