Woman killed, daughter hurt after being hit by mini-truck

Indore: Even as FREE PREE is extensively running its campaign against bikers and pillion riders who cared two hoots about wearing helmets even for their own safety, a 43-year-old woman was killed and her daughter sustained injuries after a recklessly driven mini truck hit their bike in Hira Nagar area on Wednesday night. The duo was going to a marriage function, but their joyride was cut short. The deceased has been identified as Kalpana Ghate, a resident of Hira Nagar Main Road.

She was heading for a marriage function with daughter Ruchika when a recklessly driven mini truck hit their scooter after which Kalpana fell on the road and she came under the wheel of a mini truck due to which she died on the spot. Ruchika fell on the other side and sustained injuries. It is said that the truck crushed the woman’s head and dragged her for a few metres. Police said that Ruchika was riding the scooter while Kalpana was the pillion.

Sources claimed that Kalpana was travelling without helmet. However, the police are investigating the case and are examining the CCTVs to know more about the accident. The people of the area immediately caught errant mini truck driver and handed him over to police.
