Weekend Guide: Food, Music & Sneak Peek into Folk Mythology

Tantalizing Thai brunch

 What: The contemporary all day dining multi cuisine restaurant housed at JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar would play a host to the Special Thai Brunch. This brunch brings to the table exquisite flavours of authentic Thai Cuisine. The highlight of the Brunch will be Grand Thai Fruits Boat Station, rendering a true Thai-street ambiance. The menu features an array of Thai Seafood and Meat Grill such as Lobster, Sole, King Fish, Pomfret, Norwegian Salmon, King Prawns, and Octopus Satay and a lot more to suit the palates of the guests. Thai food is empty without the authentic curries, hence to bring this buffet to a full circle the brunch would also have a Thai Curry Station with the Red, Green and Massaman curries that will be served with exotic vegetable. This menu will also feature an Indian Food Counter that will have will have a plethora of options from the best of local delicacies and also gives the guests a good mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. In addition to food, the beverages served at the brunch comprise of cocktails made of homemade infusions.

The Siddhus of Upper Juhu

What: A hilarious comic play that foretells the story of Balvinder aka Bubbles brother Goldie Siddhu and sisters Pammi & Smiley, a 50-year-old a well-paid financial executive, and his loyal Parsi wife, Behroze, live on the fourteenth floor of a typical modern. Despite having poured their life savings into this 2-and-half BHK flat in Mumbai, everything civil and civic seems to go wrong. The walls are paper thin allowing him a constant earful of his neighbours’ private lives and the flush doesn’t work unless jiggled. Compounded with the continuous BMC drilling, the howling of stray dogs, and the stink of uncleared garbage, with the endless racket of this unsleeping city, Bubbles goes steadily pissed off and paranoid. The show features ace actors like Rajit Kapur and Shernaz Patel and the play is directed by Rahul da Cunha

Flavours from Streets of Kolkata

Kolkata better known as Calcutta happens to be one of the country’s friendliest cities for street food lovers. For anyone who embraces the idea of eating local, street-side delicacies, indulging in Kolkata street food is an imperative item on their bucket list. The city of joy not only offers local delicacies, but it also has its own versions of snacks from all over the country. The specially curated menu for the food festival has an extensive variety of preparations, and traditional Kolkata street food specialties like Puchka Pani, Raj Kachori, Jalebi Chaat, Palak Patta Chaat and much more will be available for our guests to choose from. Live counters authenticating street foods of Kolkata also add to the unique offerings for patrons. Along with the flavoursome and appetizing delicacies, the guests will also be served the famous Kulad Chai in clay tea cups.

 The Dessert Garden

 What: This weekend, indulge in some of the most mouth-watering delights at India’s Biggest Dessert! The Dessert Garden edition is in its 6th successful edition, Dessert Garden edition 6.0 will feature sweet delights in the magical setting of a pop-up grassed garden. With more than 60 dessert brands showcasing some of the most exciting and unheard of desserts, live performances, dessert installations and a dessert lovers sit-down space, the festival will be India biggest dessert weekend. Get ready to indulge in a variety of desserts from cupcakes, macaroons, brownies, crispy churros to cute little pie pops, donuts, pancakes, cheesecakes, gourmet ice-cream sandwiches, fancy French patisseries. One can make the most of this dessert pop-up, as you’re bound to want to try more than one! Experience the Nitrogen ice-cream and gorge on hand churned gelato.

May Contain Nuts – the Band

What: All music lovers be ready to groove to a wide variety of genres from Classic Rock, Alternative Rock, Funk, Blues, Grunge, Pop Rock, Slow Rock, Pop, Indie, Fusion and Commercial Pop and Rock music. With stylistic covers of everything ranging from Coldplay, The Beatles, Guns and Roses, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Ed Sheeran, Jason Mraz, Metallica and Pink Floyd, May Contain Nuts – the  band is bound to keep you on your feet from the get go this Saturday! As a bandMay Contain Nuts is surprisingly versatile, belting out hit after hit from the 80’s all the way to the more recent mainstream numbers. Having played gigs around the city at venues like Hard Rock Cafe, The Westin, Taj Lands End, Road House Bluez, Stained Glass, and Cafe Haq Se to full houses, the band has the recipe for good music.

A Sneak Peek into Folk Mythology

 What: The Masks of a Hero; an event to honour the epic Indian mythologies, Ramayana and Mahabharata. The Ramayana and the Mahabharata are India’s most enduring sagas the stories of its heroes and their journeys touch and move us even today. Yet, we know little about folk renditions of these epics, that colour characters like Sita and Hanuman with different strokes. The Talking Myths Project is an endeavour to decode mythology in all its various shades. Come, experience and understand mythology as you never have before. The event is Free and Open for a mature audience above 16 years of age.
