Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer ‘Gully Boy’ is all set to release on February 14 i.e. Valentine’s Day. Directed and written by Zoya Akhtar, the film is based on the actual gully boys from Mumbai – Divine, and Naezy. Ever since the trailer and dialogue promos have been released, netizens are going crazy over everything the film has to offer. And in no time, the internet is filled with epic memes. But the one thing that stole the limelight is Alia Bhatt’s character where she plays extra-possessive girlfriend. Her character and the acts in the film are very relatable, and we can’t agree more. Here are five shades of Alia’s character from the movie:
The Gundi Girlfriend
Alia Bhatt plays a medical student in the film. From the released trailer and dialogue promos it is clear that her character is a ‘gundi’ type who does not even mind smashing a bottle on a girl who flirts with her boyfriend. Not to forget the famous ‘dhoptungi’ dialogue from the film.
The possessive Girlfriend
Alia Bhatt is also seen as an overprotective and jealous girlfriend who grills her boyfriend for accepting a female friend’s request. She gets mad at him for replying and check the number on Truecaller. She finds out that the female friend’s name is ‘Albina Dadarkar’. In the next scene, she is seen getting down from the bus and calling Albina asking her whereabouts.
The Daring Girlfriend
Alia and Ranveer are having a conversation on a mobile phone when he asks her, “Tu itni daring kaise hai re?” meaning ‘You have a lot of guts’, to which she replies, “nahi toh itna saara jo life main chahiye who milega kaise?” Meaning ‘If I don’t take risks how will I fulfill all my dreams?’
The Bold Girlfriend
In the promo, Alia is seen kissing Ranveer on a bridge. A little scared Ranveer asks, “Marvayegi kya?” meaning ‘You are going to get me in a trouble’ to which she replies, “Kyu? Tu mere liye jaan bhi nahi de sakta?” meaning ‘Why? You cannot sacrifice your life for me?’
The supportive Girlfriend
On the other hand, she is also seen supporting her boyfriend to fulfill his dream of becoming a rapper.
‘Gully Boy’ might be a hero-centric movie but Alia’s character has also been given enough space to shine. The soundtrack of the film is the collaborative effort of over 50 artists and features 18 tracks. Directed by Zoya Akhtar, Gully Boy is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under the banner of Excel Entertainment in association with Tiger Baby and is slated to release on February 14.
