We all know that the Bollywood stars live in limelight but in real life they have faced problems too. They had to face the pain of separation from the one they love. Here in this Valentine week here are some known tragic loves stories in Bollywood in 50s, 60s and 70s that came to an end.
Dilip Kumar and Madhubala
When we talk about the 50s love story, the first name that comes to mind is Dilip Kumar and Madhubala. Kumar was deeply in love with Madhubala during those days and even today. Once he said that, “Jab tak mai zinda hu tab tak mai Madhubala se pyaar Karunga”. Dilip Kumar said in an interview that, “I must admit that I was attracted to her (Madhubala) both as a fine co-star and as a person who had some of the attributes I hoped to find in a woman at that age and time…She, as I said earlier, was very sprightly and vivacious and, as such, she could draw me out of my shyness and reticence effortlessly,” Kumar says in the book, published by Hay House.
Their love story was become famous because Dilip Kumar wanted to marry Madhubala but her father Attaullah Khan’s was not ready for this marriage. One day on the set, where Omprakash, Madhubala and Dilip were present that time he told her, now itself I want to marry her, but on one condition that after marriage Madhubala will not meet her father in future. Due to this clause, Madhubala did not respond. After that Dilip Kumar walked away from the set. After getting separated, they were working together on the films.
Zeenat Aman and Sanjay Khan
Bollywood sexiest 70s beauty Zeenat fell in love with Sanjay Khan. The stars met on the set of Abdullah in 1970. After falling in love with each other, it was reported that, the duo got hitched in Jaiselmer on December 30, 1978. it was rumoured that Sanjay Khan is already married to Zarine. When she came to know about Sanjay and Zeenat she forced Sanjay to keep distance from Zeenat. By this time Zeenat, came to realise of negative drama surrounding her relationship and it was disturbing her peace of mind. Then both of them separated from each other. In an interview she said that “I was very naive and vulnerable at that time. It was a few weeks of madness, that’s it.”
Raj Kapoor and Nargis
During 50s and 60s, the love affair between Nargis and Raj Kapoor was known. The romance between the two was meant to be. Hence, it is alleged that Raj Kapoor who was a family man and had children, would not leave his family for Nargis Dutt. And they parted away. Remember the scene where Raj holds Nargis in a violin – that iconic scene became the logo of RK films studios. Some of his real life scene like in ‘Bobby’ where Rishi meets Dimple Kapadia in her house was picked from Raj Kapoor meeting with his favourite actress Nargis at her residence.
Nanda and Manmohan Desai
Once upon a time, Manmohan Desai was Nanda’s fan, he loved her secretly but never expressed his love to Nanda. Manmohan got married to Jeevanprabha Gandhi, but after some years she died. And again Manmohan’s love for Nanda was flying in the air. At that time, Nanda also started liking him. He sent her a marriage proposal and which was accepted by her. The couple also got engaged but on March 1, 1994, he fell from the balcony in Girgaon as the railing he was leaning on collapsed and died. but at that time it was rumoured that he committed suicide which was never confirmed. This news shocked the Bollywood industry as well Nanda too. After that she never got married to anyone.
Mahesh Bhatt and Parveen Babi
In 1977, Mahesh Bhatt and Parveen Babi love blossomed when Parveen was shooting for ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ and ‘Kala Patthar’. She was madly in love with Mahesh Bhatt. But he was already married to someone and further, Bhatt decided to live-in with Parveen, but this fairytale had a bitter ending forever. The darkest night in Parveen Babi’s tragic story came in 2005, where the news of her death in her Mumbai residence came in. She was found dead at her home. No one knows when she dead or how she died. After three days, her body was found in her bed. That time, Mahesh Bhatt was seen holding a banner in his hands written that, “We will not cry, We will Remeber”
