UMC demolishes illegal cattle sheds, other constructions

Ujjain: In a joint action by Ujjain Municipal Corporation and district administration on Wednesday, illegal cattle sheds and other construction s were razed in Kaharwadi area of the city. Municipal Commissioner Pratibha Pal informed that in a major action against stray cattle, the UMC demolished some illegal cattle sheds and other illegal construction in the old city. The UMC team razed down cattle shed of Manoj Patel in Kaharwadi area.

Cattle sheds of Rajesh Choube located in Pandariba area and Gopal Neema located in Kalalseri were also demolished. The UMC demolishing team reached Sheetalamata mandir with police force and pulled down illegal cattle shed and house of cattle rearer Shankar Patel. The UMC officials first asked the owner to furnish valid permission for the construction which Patel could not provide and the officials instructed the team to pull down the construction.

According to residents of the area, Patel had around 300 cattle in the shed which were troubling them as they were let move freely in the area by Patel. The UMC team seized eight stray cattle from the area. The residents alleged that stray cattle were causing filthiness in the area. According to sources over 70 illegal cattle sheds are being run by cattle hoarders.

UMC had issued notice in advance

The UMC had served notice on Patel earlier warning about the illegal sheds. As he ignored the notice, the UMC took the action and razed around 100-year-old encroachments, the officials said.

UMC taking revenge for exPosing its officials: house owners

Two house owners have alleged that the UMC taking revenge against them as they had exposed corruption by some of the officials earlier. They had also requested the authorities not to demolish their two decade old house as the UMC officials are taking revenge against them. House owners Surendra Pal and Rajendra Pal informed that they had received a notice from the UMC stating that their Sainath Colony located house number 39/1 where they have been residing since 1998 will be demolished as it was illegal.

The house was purchased on October 4, 1998 from a seller which was constructed by Shri Mahavir Gruh Nirman Sahakari Sanstha Maryadit under ‘daan-patra’. The house owners alleged that despite having all valid documents, the UMC served them a notice warning to demolish the construction.

collector calls cattle hoarders meeting today

Collector Manish Singh has called a meeting of cattle hoarders on Thursday at Brihaspati Bhawan at 11 pm. He also instructed the officials concerned to be present at the meeting.a
