Ujjain: A district-level workshop of stakeholders of ‘One Stop Centre’ was organised at Hotel Vikramaditya here on Friday. One Stop Centre is a scheme regarding women empowerment. An open discussion was held during the workshop on the importance of the centre with regard to the provisions of women’s safety and violence against women.
Under this scheme, violence-stricken women will be provided temporary shelter, police help, legal help, medical aid and counselling. The centre provides emergency and non emergency services to victim women. The aim of One Stop Centre (SAKHI) is to provide mainly help to women and girls below 18 who suffer from any kind of violence. Referral facilities will also be provided to them.
In One Stop Centre, women can also get help from psycho-social advisors with their counselling. Facilities of advocates are also provided to such women under this scheme. Through video conferencing a victim can also record her statements under Section 161(3), 164(1) and 275 (1) of Indian Penal Code. On this occasion, district women empowerment officer Sabir Ahmed Siddiqi, deputy-director, women empowerment Shubhangi Majumdar, ADPO Kamlesh Shirvas, CDPO Ujjain Child Development Jhanak Sonane and Lokesh Sharma were present in the workshop with officials of some other departments and social workers. It was conducted by law-cum-probationary officer Priyanka Tripathi.
