Ujjain: UMC to organise competitions to promote cleanliness

Mayor Meena Jonwal convened a meeting on Thursday for organising competitions to promote cleanliness campaign across the city. Jonwal said that commoners should be connected with campaign by organising zone wise competitions. Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC) will hold a jugad competition between September 22 and 28 for college-level students in which the contestants will make useful things from wasted items. An Indradhanush competition will be organised for college students from September 24-26. Painting and cultural competitions for schoolchildren will be held on October 2.

Mayor in council members Mangilal Kadel, Satyanarayan Chouhan, Rajshree Joshi, Buddhiprakash Soni, Rinku Belani, Himmatsingh Devda, additional commissioner Manoj Pathak, deputy commissioner Yogendra Patel, Vivek Jain, Yogendra Gangrade, health officer BS Mehte and others attended the meeting.

Haritima project: 1200 saplings planted
1200 saplings were planted at the bank of river Kshipra under Vakankar Bridge under the haritima project of Ujjain Municipal Corporation on Thursday. On this occasion Jonwal said that 1 lakh saplings will be planted under Haritima Project out of which 30 thousand saplings have been planted. Energy minister Paras Jain, mayor Meena Jonwal, MLA Mohan Yadav district organising secretary Pradeep Joshi, simhastha fair authority chairman Diwakar Natu, Iqbalsingh Gandhi, Neelurani Khatri, Radheshyam Verma, Satyanarayan Chouhan, Yogeshwari Thakur and others were present on this occasion. The programme was conducted by Suresh Giri.

UMC organises Bhumi Poojan its various new projects
A bhumi poojan was performed on Thursday for a cement concrete road with drainage that will be constructed from Ekta Nagar to Do Imli in ward number 48, in the presence of mayor Meena Jonwal, MLA Mohan Yadav, district BJP head Vivek Joshi and others. A bhumi-poojan was also held in ward number 51 for drainage construction in the presence of energy minister Paras Jain, mayor Meena Jonwa and UDA chairman Jagdish Agrawal.

Encroachment removed
Acting on a complaint registered on CM Helpline a team Ujjain Municipal Corporation removed a cemented structure which was illegally constructed by Basant Chavada. Teams of UMC are also removing illegal flexes and banners across the city under the Assets defacement Act the officials said.
