Ujjain: Swine flu is gradually spreading in the city and village areas nearby. Eight patients have been reportedly found positive out of 16 admitted so far.

Talking to Free Press, in charge officer Dr HP Sonaniya said that all the necessary action is being taken to prevent the spread of the disease. Out of 16 patients eight patients have been found positive, he added. He said that a doctor of RD Gardi charitable hospital is also suffering with this disease. Two patients have died of the disease during the last 30 days, he added.

The health department has started free advisory centers at Madhav Nagar hospital, RD Gardi Medical College, CHL Hospital, Charitable Hospital, Birla Hospital, Pushpa Mission hospital and many other private hospitals in the city. Collector Sanket Bhondve in a meeting held on Tuesday with chief medical officer VK Gupta and other senior doctors instructed to set up control rooms at tehsil levels for checking the spread of this disease. He also instructed to provide flu prevention medicine Tamiflu in abundance at all private and government hospital.

The collector also instructed that the control rooms should be opened on all the seven days of the week and employees should be deployed there shift wise. He advised to run a special ambulance for patients of swine flu. Asha volunteers at Anganwadi should also be provided necessary information about the disease, the collector added. The chief medical officer said that medicine Tamiflu is available at all the hospitals in the city free of cost.
