Ujjain: Stray cattle menace leads to horrific accident on Dewas road, two killed

Ujjain: In a horrific accident that took place on Dewas road, drivers of two vehicles died on the spot at around 1.30am Tuesday, whena sports utility vehicle(SUV) collided head on with a Maruti van near Abhilasha colony on Dewas Road under Nagziri police limits. Eye witnesses said both drivers were trying to save stray cattle moving on the road freely.

According to details available driver Vijay Chouhan (38)was transporting devotees Sanjay Jain (20) Aditya (23) and Vipul, residents of Sivani to Dewas, who had come to the city to pay obeisance at Mahakaleshwar Temple on the first Monday of the Shravan month.

The driver of the SUV was trying to save stray cattle that had been moving in front of the vehicle near Abhilasha Colony when a speeding Maruti van collided head on with the SUV with a blasting sound. The collision was so terrible that both the vehicles were dragged for some distance on the road.

The Maruti van driver was identified as Balram Soni, who also died in the accident while the van owner Kamaruddin (53) was injured seriously.Residents of the colony and passers by provided rescue to victims and called the ambulance to rush them to the hospital immediately.

Sandeep Soni the brother of driver Balram Soni with deep pain said t Balram had been advised to stay at Sonkatch by his father to avoid late night journey, but he wanted to come home at the earliest. Devotees and the owner of the vans have been hospitalised. The residents of the area complained of stray cattle in the area causing accidents often.
