Ujjain: A programme, ‘samarasta snan’ was held at Ramghat on Friday under the aegis of Ramanujkot to mark the millennial birth anniversary of Vaishnav Sant Ramanujacharya.

Energy minister Paras Jain, MLA Mohan, Balyogi Umeshnath Maharaj, Awadheshpuri Maharaj and followers took part in the programme. Addressing the people, Rangnathacharya of Ramanujkot said one should refrain from addressing a person as ‘dalit’ as it depicted helplessness. Rather, one should be addressed by the individual name, he added.

Jain, MLA Mohan Yadav, municipal speaker Sonu Gehlot, Umeshnath Maharaj and Awadheshpuri Maharaj insisted on sense of equality in the society in their speeches and pointed out the exemplary path followed by Shabari, Valmiki and sant Raidas who were against untouchability throughout their lives.

Religious sants were felicitated with mementos and garlands on this occasion.  Those present  included Satyanarayan Khoiwal and Surendra Chaturvedi among others. A mass feast was also held at Ramanujkot at this juncture. Madhavacharya Prapannacharya proposed a vote of thanks.
