With the implementation of Model Code of Conduct, city police launched vehicle checking drive at outer roads and toll plazas of the city. The drive will continue till the elections are over, police officials said. During the checking at Chamunda Mata square, police seized unaccounted money of Rs 5.21 lakh from businessman Ranjeet of Sirohi (Rajasthan).
During interrogation Ranjeet told police that he the money was payments against cloths he sold to traders. According to police, the businessman could not show document like bill or receipt to corroborate his statement hence the cash was seized. The police said no one can carry cash over Rs 50,000 without supporting documents. The police department also deployed male and female cops at connecting outer roads of the city and toll plazas to conduct checking of vehicles.
