Ujjain News – Counterfeit currency racket busted

Ujjain : The police arrested two people with fake currency on a tip-off from on Saturday from the railway station and Mahakal area.

At a press conference, SP Sachin Atulakar stated that the Mahakal police  authorities had received information about people who were involved in counterfeit money transactions. The police formed teams to cordon off the accused and nabbed them.

The police nabbed a minor involved in the racket from Mahakal Marg, near Damroo Bhojanalaya and recovered two fake notes of rupees 2000. On interrogation the minor accused broke down and reveled his aide’s name as Ram Sanodiya alias Sisodiya (33),a resident of Sioni, who was present at the station at that time. The police also nabbed him and on interrogation, he admitted to having committed the crime and revealed that he had been using a colour photocopy machine and printer to make fake bank notes of Rs 2000, Rs 500 and Rs 200 denominations. The police then recovered counterfeit currency notes amounting  to Rs 2,17,600 and seized a colour printer. Mahakal police registered an FIR against the accused and the minor under Section 489 (a)(b)(c). The accused also said they had been running a counterfeit racket in Sioni, Jabalpur, Chhpara, Chhindwara and other cities. According to police details, both accusedwere being arrested from their home town, Sioni.
