Ujjain: Nav Samvat celebrated in city, offerings made to Sun God at several places

Ujjain: Several functions were organised in the city to celebrate Nav Samvat (Hindu New Year) on Wednesday. Gudi Padwa and Chetichand festivals were also celebrated alongside with great enthusiasm.

Mahamandleshwar Swami Shanti Swroopanand, Swami Rangnathacharya Maharaj, Swami Avdhesh Puri, Vice Chancellor Sanskrit and Vedic University, Vice Chancellor of Devi Ahilya University Indore and many other scholars gathered on the banks of river Kshipra at Ramghat during a Nav Samvat ceremony. Pt Anand Shakar Vyas, a famous astrologer was also present. The president of Avantika Tirth Purohit Mahasabha, Pt Rajesh Trivedi was felicitated here. Leaves of Neem and Mishri were distributed after ‘Ardhya’ offerings to the  Sun God and conducting the ‘Kshipra Arti’.

Idol of Vikramaditya garlanded at Vikram University

The idol of Samrat Vikramaditya was garlanded on the occasion of Nav Samvat at Vikram University with mantras. Vice Chancellor in-charge, Prof HP Singh worshiped the idol of Vikramaditya. Prof MS Parihar, Prof Premlat Chutail, Prof Nish Vashishtha, Prof Shailendra Kumar Sharma, Prof Balkrishna Sharma, teachers and staff of the university were present.  Proctor Shailendra Sharma conveyed the  Vice Chancellor’s wishes to the audience while Prof Rakesh Dhand conducted the programme.

Aryasamaj Mandir celebrates New Year with Vedic mantras and yagnas

On the occasion of Gudipadva and Establishment Day of Arya Samaj, scholars at Arya Samaj Mandir celebrated Nav Samvat with Yagnas and Mantras in the auspicious presence of international vedic scholar, Acharya Prabhamitra.  Dr Lalit Nagar conducted the programme and gratitude was expressed by   Rajesh Sharma, informed secretary Jitendra Batra.

Nav Samvat Nav Vichar observe 9 day celebrations

Nav Samvat Nav Vichar organisation celebrated Gudipadva and Nav Samvat with ‘Ardhya’ to the Sun deity at Ramghat. Teerth Purohits were also felicitated. Indra Dwaj and Gudi were worshipped by former director RK Gupta, Prof Narendra Dhakad, Dr Yogesh Sharma and Dr Dinesh Jain.   A procession held on this occasion, passed through main roads of the city with residents and social organizations welcoming it enthusiastically. New year predictions were made by Pt Anand Shankar Vyas. The procession was attended by Prof Rajeswar Shastri Musalgaonkar, Congress leader Anantnarayan Meena, Prof Virendra Verma, Ravi Rai and their supporters. Secretary Dinesh Jain and Manish Sharma expressed gratitude on this occasion.

Bajrang Dal activists celebrate New Year at Mahakal Temple

Over 300 volunteers of the Bajrang Dal attended ‘Bhasmarti’ and bursted firecrackers exchanging wishes on the occasion. Sevabharti functionary Mukesh Disawal also stated the  importance of celebrating Nav Samvat and Gudipadwa at programme here. Various leaders of the ruling party and public representatives were present.

Mayor Meena Jonwal wishes citizens

On the occasion of Gudipadva Mayor Meena Jonwal wished citizens of the city and applied the auspicious holy ‘prasad’ on their fore heads with leaves of Neem and Mishri. The mayor visited many well wishers across the city. Organising secretary of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Malwa region, Brijkishore Bhargawa enlightened people on the reasons behind the auspicious celebration of Gudipadava. New ‘dhwajas’  flags) were placed at various temples in the city. The programme was attended by district organising secretary Atishay Joshi, district convener Dhanna Sharma and Mahesh Kumawat were present.
