Ujjain Municipal Corporation intensifies drive against illegal encroachments, handcarts

Ujjain: Resentment erupted among citizens against the Municipal Corporation’s citywide encroachment removal drive on Wednesday. Demonstration has been organised at several places against the Government.

Municipal Corporation commissioner Pratibha Pal instructed officials to remove illegal pucca constructions over the sewage system by residents. Municipal gang under in-charge SonuThanwar removed illegal occupations from several places near Madhavnagar station in Freeganj area on Wednesday.

Angered temporary shopkeepers demonstrate with congress leaders against the drive Temporary shopkeepers of the Freeganj area took part in the demonstration organised by Madhav Nagar Block Congress Committee president Ajit Singh Thakur and said on the one hand Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had envisioned to give employment and opportunity to make a life out of their handcarts.

The Municipal gang had seized the 25 to 30 handcarts from tower chowk on Wednesday. Thakur along with these vendors haddemonstrated in the municipal corporation office premises and demanded that the mayor release all these handcarts and also stop seizing  handcarts so that the poor vendors couldcontinue their work. ArunVerma, Nana Tilkar, PurushottamKahar, Govind Thakur and Rahul Kripal participated in the demonstration.

Sole earning source of 10 families ruined by the UM

Bharat Hindu Mahasabha Gaurakhsha submitted a memorandum to Mahakal Mandir administration demanding that small vendors be allowed to install bhakti bhandar shops outside temple premises. Mahasabha president Manish Singh Chouhan informed that few days ago a violent fight took placeoutside the temple due to which the Government removed 8 to 10 shops of the bhakti bhandar surrounding the temple area.

These shops were the only source of earning for these peoplewho have been struggling for the survival for the past one month, he said. So they have demandedfrom the authorities to permit them to continue their shops.
