BJP national spokesperson and MP Minakshi Lekhi strongly objected on SC’s move to defer hearing on a land dispute related to Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir. “Supreme Court promptly fixed December 4 as the date of hearing in a case related to two Congress leaders who were issued income tax notice while on the other hand it has thrown the hearing of Ram Mandir issue on a long date,” she commented.
Addressing a press conference at a private hotel here on Friday evening, Minkashi Lekhi said that the construction of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya is related to the faith of 70 percent Indians and SC should hear the issue at once. “The issue hanged in balance for 8 years during the UPA regime, but we did not put it on hold during NDA regime. Everybody knows that neither PM Narendra Modi nor BJP president Amit Shah nor MP CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan were against the construction of Ram Mandir,” she said.
She also said that the BJP government at the Center cannot bring an ordinance on the construction of Ram Mandir as the issue was pending before the Supreme Court. “We brought an amendment in the Parliament over SC-ST Prevention of Atrocity Act in the light of a fact that the SC had given certain order on the issue, but this cannot be applicable in issuing ordinance on the Ram Mandir,” she clarified maintaining that the SC should at once start hearing on it and should pass an order.
‘Women not stopped from reaching police station in MP’
Responding to a pin-pointed question that if everything was fine in MP, then why incidents of rape and other heinous crimes against women were top in the country, Minakshi Lekhi said that if women in the state were not being stopped to reach police station to file FIR it clearly reflects that women empowerment is getting pace here. “It is a subject of vision if you talk about success or failure with regard to highest crime rate against women in MP. Government’s job starts when the rape survivor reaches police station. Prompt registration of FIR and taking the culprit towards conviction indicates that the government system is effectively working. But in between this if Congress leaders like Kamal Nath utters abusive language on the modesty of woman, it gives rise to crime against women,” she remarked.
selection of women candidates on winnabilty
She defended BJP’s decision on giving ticket to less number of women saying winnability factor was given preference as ratio of sustainability of women was less in politics like judiciary and media.
