Ujjain: A blast occured in a general coach of a Bhopal-Ujjain passenger train on Tuesday at Javadi Station, 15-km from Kalapeepal Station. Sources said atleast 35 to 50 passengers were injured in the blast and were admitted to the hospital at Kalapeepal during the incident. According to passengers, a loud blast was heard from the general coach just next to thr guard’s coach following which the coach caught fire. People of Ujjain, Shujalpur, Shajapur, Akodiya, Kalapeepal, Maksi and other nearby stations were seen frantically enquiring about their kin travelling on the train. According to Ujjain station manager RD Dwivedi, the situation was under control and rescue teams were despatched immediately. However, officials could not identify the cause of blast. Two helpline numbers were also pressed into service at the local station. Meanwhile, the police administration in association with the GRP and RPF launched a massive search operation at the platforms and inside the trains as a precautionary step. A high alert was also sounded across the country in the aftermath of the train blast.
