Ujjain: Fearing action against encroachment, kiosk owners in Freeganj observed a bandh and downed shutters to mark their protest on Thursday.

While most businessmen in the Freeganj area have welcomed the decision of the Ujjain Municipal Corporation, the sudden announcement had kiosk owners in a quandary. Shopkeepers in the area they had earlier assured the corporation that porches of shops would be vacated.

Meanwhile, a meeting of local businessmen was held in support of the administration. Members of businessmen association Avantas Jain, Subhash Patidar and Prakash Chittoda also decided to bring about uniformity in porches of shops at Freeganj at the meeting.
