Ujjain: Collector Sanket Bhondve and MLA Mohan Yadav visited Government Engineering College on Thursday to take the stock of problems of students and staff of the college.
Principal Umesh Pendharkar apprised the collector and MLA Mohan Yadav with problems of the college. He said the problem of potable water in the college was very serious, and the collector immediately issued instructions to public heath engineering (PHE) department to resolve the problem. The collector also directed that the exterior building of the college and campus of the college be beautified. He asked the principal to start preparations for the ‘youth-festival’ which will be organised soon along with ‘Vikramotsav’.
MLA of Ujjain (south) Yadav asked Pendharkar to formulate a work plan for developing a park in the college campus and assured the principal that funds would be released from the MLA fund as required. Collector Sanket Bhondve also gave his assent and instructed the forest department to develop a garden in the college campus. He suggested planting more fruits and flower bearing trees in the college campus.
The principal brought to the notice of the collector the issue of heavy vehicles passing through the campus. The principal said there were two girls’ hostels in the campus and there was always a possibility of accidents occurring when students crossed the road. The collector also gave his nod to curb movement of heavy vehicle from the area to ward off accidents. He further said that a height barrier would be placed here.
Bhondve called for the installation of night vision cameras in the college campus to curb anti social elements in the college premises. Police patrolling will also be mounted up in the area the collector added. The collector instructed college administration to purchase e-rickshaws for visiting the college campus and assured that every possible help would be provided by the district administration.
