Ujjain: New Vikram Samvat 2075 was celebrated with full enthusiasm and joy on Sunday. The new Samvat was celebrated with Vedic rituals on banks of Kshipra– Ramghat and Duttakhada ghats – amid chanting of mantras by priests. ‘Suryadityastotra’ was also recited.
People present on the banks offered ‘ardhya’ to the Sun and greeted each other. During the occasion Vikramotsav celebration head Mohan Yadav, Anushthan Mandapam Jyotish Academy director Pt Shyamnarayan Vyas were present along with prominent persons of the city.
Akhand Vikram Jyoti flamed
Akhand Vikram Jyoti was ignited on Sunday at Triveni Sangrahalya in the presence of Prabhat Jha, Mohan Yadav, Bhagwatilal Rajpurohit were present with prominent persons of the city.
Mayor tilak on forehead of city dwellers
Mayor Meena Jonwal attended various programmes of Gudi Padva at greeting centres across the city and applied tilak on forehead of city dwellers. Ujjain Municipal Corporation had setup greeting centres at Mahakal Temple square, Gopal Mandir, Kanthal Square, Shaheed Park and Sindhi Colony. The mayor distributed leaves of Neem, jaggery (Gud) and dry coriander to people.
Vikram Nav samvatsar Calendar released
Shri Harsiddhi Bhakt Mandal organised Vikramaditya Smruti Samaroh and Nav Samvatsar meet. During the meet Dr Mahendra Pandya was felicitated by Varruchi Samman. Vikram Nav samvat calendar and Nav samvatsar smruti written by Vinod Joshi were also released. Energy minister Paraschandra Jain was the chief guest. Along with corporator Leela Verma and Mandal mentor Anandshankar Vyas, the minister garlanded the portrait of goddess Harsiddhi. Artists Indersingh Bais presented ‘Tal-vadya’ during the programme. The programme was conducted by Ramesh Dube and Kamlesh Tambi expressed gratitude.
Avantika Social Welfare Foundation organised programme
Avantika Social Welfare Foundation organised a programme and hoisted the flag. Vice- president of the organisation Manish Pathak paid obeisance at the temple of goddess Sheetala and greeted all people on Gudi Padva. Secretary Prakhar Pandey and treasurer Nilesh Rajouriya were also present during the programme.
Arya Samaj celebrates establishment day
Arya Samaj celebrated its establishment day on Gudi Padva and took out a Prabhat pheri (morning march). The organisation also performed ‘yagya’. Vikram University proctor Prof Shailendra Sharma condemned British education system. The guests lit candles and Pt Umesh Shastri recited Veda mantras and welcomed senior lawyer BL Pandya and librarian Ambaram Verma. The programme was conducted by Lalit Nagar and gratitude was expressed by Ramprasad Malakar.
Dharmdhwaja hoisted in Rudrasagar
A huge ‘dharmdhwaja was hoisted at Shri Vikramaditya Sinhasan Battisi in Rudrasagar and a felicitation. The spokesperson of organising committee said 81-feet lofty and 51-feet long ‘dharmdhwaja’ was hoisted after worshipping goddess Harsiddhi.
The programme was presided over by Dr Kalyani Chaitanya Brahmcharini and Mahamandleshwar swami Shantiswarupanandji was the chief guest. Swami Naradanand, Umeshnath Maharaj, Pt Mohan Bhatt, Girish Guru, Nandu Maharaj and principal Dr Govind Gandhe were honourable guests while Speaker Sonu Gehlot was the special guest. The programme was conducted by Narendra Agrawal and gratitude was expressed by Shyam Jaiswal.
Ardhya offered to the Sun at Kalidas Academy
A programme of offering ‘ardhya’ to the Sun was held at Kamal Sarowar in Kalidas Academy Gayatri Shaktipeeth to sanctify inner personality of humans. On this occasion Mahakaleshwar Shrivastava, Dr Shashikant Shashtri, Shashimohan Shrivastava, Dr Vinod Gupta and Chandrashekhar Vashishtha addressed the audience. The programme was conducted Shikha Sharma and gratitude was expressed by Devendra Shrivastava.
Grand celebration held at Ramghat
A grand celebration programme was held at Ramgaht in the chairmanship of Pt Anandshankar Vyas. Bengali women and devotees of ISCKON blew conch shell and performed Surya Namaskar. Energy Minister Paras Jain, Swami Shantiswarupanandji Maharaj, former vice chancellor Vikram University Dr Ramrajesh Mishra, Pt Yogesh Sharma and Dinesh Jain congratulated the people. Shiv Sena and Yuva Sena take out vehicle rally
A huge vehicle rally and ‘dhwaj-yatra’ were taken out by Shiv Sena and Yuva Sena on the occasion of Gudi Padva. Members of the organisation performed aarti of emperor Vikramaditya. The rally began from Maksi Road on 3pm and ended at Rudrasagar. State general secretary of UP Simran Gupta was the chief guest. Other office-bearers of the organisations were also present during the rally.
Vehicle rally taken out
Maharashtrian community celebrated Gudi Padwa festival with traditional fervour. A two-wheeler rally was taken out in which girls and women rode on different vehicles. Women were seen dancing on road outside Maharashta Bhavan, Ksheer Sagar.
Vikram-dhwaj Yatra taken out
A Vikram-dhwaj Yatra was taken out to mark the onset of Hindu New Year from Fawwara Chowk. DAVV, Indore VC Narendra Dhakad, Vikram University’s former VC RR Mishra, Manohar Bairagi, Dinesh Jain, Yogesh Sharma, Mahesh Soni and hundreds of people were present.
Abhishek-pujan of Vikramaditya’s statue at VU
On first day of Vikram Nava Samvatsar abhishek-pujan of the statue of Emperor Vikramaditya was performed by the Vikram University administration. Teachers and staff attended the event along with acting vice-chancellor HP Singh, Rakesh Dhand, Shailendra Kumar Sharma and Balkrishna Sharma. Floral tributes were paid to Vikramaditya and Navratanas in the executive council hall. On this occasion Anil Jain, SK Jain, Prashant Puranik, Raman Solanki, Amarnath Singh, Lakshminarayana Sangat, Lakshya Malviya, Rajesh Thakur, Vipul Maiwal along with teachers, employees and students joined the programme.
Shiv Sena puts tilak on foreheads of minorities
Members of Shiv Sena and Yuva Sena applied tilak on forehead of people from minority community in Mehidpur during rally. They also distributed Neem leaves and sweets on this occasion. Shivsena district head Dinesh Prajapati, Harinarayan Patidar, Mahesh Kushwah, Manglesh Parihar, Shubham Prajapati, Gopal Choudhary, Narendra Rathore, Kamal Parihar, Rajendra Chouhan, Govindsingh Rathore and Sandeep Verma were present. Shiv Sena members also distributed milk at Tower Chowk.
