Ujjain: Government sells huge stocks of onions at rock bottom prices

Ujjain: The state government auctioned huge stocks up to 484 metric tonnes of onion at Rs 551 per quintal, which was purchased by farmers at a minimum support price of Rs 800 per quintal on Monday. According to mandi committee president, Bahadursingh Bormundla, 484 metric tonnes of onions were sold at Rs 551 per quintal, to Rameshwar Amolak Chand Kumawat, while 377 metric tonnes of onions were sold at Rs 261 per quintal.

Vegetable merchants Akhalaq Hussein, Iqrar Husein, Pradeep Traders, Deepak Pamnani, Bharat, Kamalsingh Patel, Dinesh Patel, Anjani Traders, RAK firm, Omprakash Patidar participated in the auction. District Manager of MP Nagrik Apurti Nigam, Dilip Saxena, DMO Rakesh Hedau, DK Marmat and Mandi secretary Rajesh Goyal, were present during the auction on behalf of the state government.
