Ujjain: Ganeshotsav ends, devotees bid adieu to Bappa

Processions carrying idols of Lord Ganesh for immersion began winding their way towards Kshipra river from various locations in the city marking the culmination of 10-day Ganesh festival.  On the night of Anant Chaturdashi the tableaux and music bands marching behind Ganesh idols will provide a mesmerising view to the devotees.

Municipal corporation had especially prescribed two locations for immersion:
Gaughat and Kaliyadeh Palace. Safety and security arrangements have been made by administration for crowd management. Rise in water level at Ramghat due to heavy rainfall has posed a risk to the safety of devotees. So corporation had barricaded the whole place and strictly prohibited the immersion there. Idol collection points were established at about 10 places on the banks of river Kshipra.

On the Sunday night the chal-samaroh (procession) began from Chamunda Mata Square and moved to Railway Station, Indoregate, Daulatganj, Naisadak, Chhatri-chowk, Gudari Square and concluded at Ramghat. Chintaman Ganesh temple pujari informed that Chintaman Ganesh tableaux were taken for a tour of city from temple premises and it will join the main procession at Chamunda Mata Square. Municipal corporation had also formed three tableaux depicting Mahatma Gandhi spreading message of cleanliness. Several religious tableaux were also prepared for the occasion. Public health department had formed two tableaux for the occasion.
