Ujjain: Frost hits rabi crop in many areas

Ujjain: Severe cold has hit the rabi crop of potato, gram and wheat in many areas of the city. In some farmlands crop of potatoes and wheat have been damaged completely. Farmers’ leaders have demanded that a thorough survey of the affected farmlands be conducted for providing ex-gratia to the farmers.

Famer MLA of Tarana, Rodmal Rathore, Vasudev Pande, Lakshmansingh Sisodiya and BJP leader Om Rajoriya surveyed affected farmlands and expressed their concerns over damaged crops. Sarpanch of village Ralayata-bhoja told that farmers of Ralayata-bhoja, Nanikhedi, Ramgarh, Lalkhedi, Ganava, Barkhedi, Suliakhedi and other neighbouring villages suffered big damage as frost ruined their corps of potatoes and gram.

According to ex- district Kisan Congress head Mahesh Patel farmers of village Dhabala Rehwari, Sahebkhedi, Bakania, Kadwali, Ujjainiya, Anwaliya, Bhutiya, Surasa, Badrakha, Kalodiya are among the villages which have suffered loss due to frost hit crops.
