Ujjain: City administration, department of happiness and social justice and disability welfare department jointly conducted a free medical camp for senior citizens to mark International Day for Older Persons on Sunday. Thirty-eight elderly were examined in the camp. Several diagnostic tests were conducted for general health, heart ailments, kidney and cancer. Psychiatric consultation, dental examination, ear-nose-throat (ENT) examination and orthopedic examination too were conducted. A team of Dr Ajay Nigam, Dr PN Sharma, Dr YK Vyas, Dr Pradeep Vyas and others examined the patients.
A felicitation programme will be held for senior citizens in presence of chief guest union minister of social justice and empowerment, Thawar Chand Gehlot at Mahakal Pravachan Hall on Monday at 3 pm.
One-click pension scheme launched for elderly
On International day for older persons, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched ‘one-click pension distribution scheme’ for elderly and also felicitated senior citizens at an event in Bhopal on Sunday. The scheme will benefit lakhs of elderly pensioners. The event was broadcast live in all districts. In Ujjain, the event was watched at National Informatics Centre by officials and senior citizens. Deputy collector Shailey Kanash, UMC deputy commissioner Yogendra Singh Patel, Dinesh Parmar, Anupriya Hada and others were present. Around 93, 931 senior citizens of the district will benefit by this scheme.
Older people day celebrated at Sewadham
Children and workers of Sewadham Ashram honoured elderly inmates residing in ashram on International day for older persons at an event held on Sunday. As a gesture of respect, traditional headgear was tied on head of elderly and pearl necklace was presented. Children also received blessings from them. Sudhirbhai Goyal, Chander Singh, convener Rajeev Tiwari and others were present.
