Ujjain: Fifth procession of Lord Mahakal taken out

Ujjain: Thousands of devotees, public representatives and others savoured Lord Mahakal’s look on the occasion of his fifth procession on Monday. Pujan of lord Chandramauleshwar was performed by divisional commissioner MB Ojha, IG Rakesh Gupta, collector Manish Singh and SP Sachin Atulkar in the vicinity of Mahakaleshwar temple. After performing rituals they launched the procession by holding the lord’s palanquin.

Lord Chandramoulishwar was sitting in silver palanquin along with Manmahesh on elephant, Shiv Tandav statue standing on Garud ratha and Uma-Mahesh on Nandi ratha and Holkar state mask on dol-ratha. Thousands of devotees sought his blessings during the spiritual and breathtaking view of procession. Police officers gave guard of honour to Lord Mahakaleshwar at temple gate.

Procession passed through Gudri Chouraha, Bakshi Bazaar, Kaharwadi and reached at Ramghat where abhishek and rituals were performed with water of river Kshipra. After the prayers procession moved through Kartik Chowk, Dani Gate, Gopal Mandir, Gudri Chouraha before returning to the temple premises.

Procession was taken out with full glory in which police on horses, special forces, police bands and devotees chanting spiritual and religious songs marched ahead of the palanquin. Last procession (shahi sawari) has been be scheduled on September 3.
