Expense observers, appointed by election commission to check expenses incurred by candidate, arrived in the city on Saturday. Four expense observers have been deployed for seven assembly seats of the district. Observers held a meeting with in-charge AFO, SST, FST, VVT, AT and MCMC and inquired about activities of the committees.
IRAS Sandeep Maheshwari will take charge of south constituency, while IRS Ramesh Kumar Dwivedi will take care of Ujjain north and Badnagar constituency. IRS Rudra Pratap Singh will look after Ghattiya and Tarana constituencies. Similarly IRS Brajlal Meena has been entrusted with charge of Nagda-Khachrod and Mahidpur constituency.
Observers asked members to take strict action against violators of code of conduct. They asked members to contact district electoral officer, Superintendent of Police and expense observers in critical situation. Collector Manish Singh and SP Sachin Atulkar were also present in the meeting.
One nomination on day 2
Deputy district electoral officer RP Verma said that Devilal Porwal of All India Congress Party filed nomination papers with returning officer of Ujjain south constituency. Till Saturday, two nominations have been filled, he said.
FIR on violation of MCC
FIR was registered against Kailash Rathi, Mansingh Sisodiya, Pratap Singh Arya and Tikam Singh for violating model code of conduct in Nagda constituency on Saturday. Nayab Tehsildar Rameshwar Prasad Pandey filed the complaint with Nagda police station. Police registered complaint under sections 188, 341 and 147 of the IPC. SDM Nagda said that around 500 peoples had gathered outside the house of central minister Thavar Chand Gehlot. They were holding BJP party flag and around 45 vehicles were also parked at the site, he said. Collector Manish Singh ordered to lodge FIR for violation of modal code of conduct.
