Ujjain: The five-day Diwali festival started with traditional fanfare, here on Tuesday. On Dhanteras, which is celebrated on the first day in the name of Ayurvedacharya Dhanvantari, local markets witnessed remarkable business. Special programmes and ‘pujas’ were also held.Alike previous years, the official Dhanteras puja was like previous years, the official Dhanteras puja was organised at the Mahakaleshwar Temple. Divisional Commissioner MB Ojha, collector Sanket Bhondve and others performed various rituals for peace, prosperity and welfare of mankind. Likewise, Mahakaleshwar Temple management committee administrator in-charge Kshitij Sharma, assistant administrative officer Priti Chouhan and others performed puja-aarti of Lord Dhanvantari at the facilitation center located Ayurveda hospital. Mayor Meena Jonwal, municipal speaker Sonu Gehlot and commissioner Vijay Kumar J, performed pujan-archan of Lord Dhanvantari at central Ayurveda dispensary, Gopal Mandir.
The second anniversary of National Ayurveda Day, declared by the ministry of Ayush, Government of India, was celebrated at the Government Dhanvantari Ayurveda College. On the occasion, divisional commissioner MB Ojha inaugurated a free-of-cost pain treatment center and a special medicine unit for the elderly. Mayor Meena Jonwal, collector Sanket Bhondve and CMHO, VK Gupta were present. Ojha said Ayurveda was best therapy, provided a patient maintained restriction and exercises discipline during treatment. The authorities also conducted inspection of different departments and wards of the hospital. Medical officer Dr Vedprakash Vyas informed that the hospital had been rendering services for the last 48 years.
