Ujjain: A functionary of Mahakal Bhakt Mandal and city Congress committee general secretary, Arun Verma, has accused senior leader of Bhartiya Janata Party and energy minister Paras Jain of giving a silent nod to charge ‘bhasmarti fee’ from devotees.
Verma also refuted the minister’s allegation that opposing the bhasmarti fee had become a political agenda for the Congress. He retaliated that opposing the fee is a matter of belief and devotion and not a politically motivated agenda.
Verma alleged that Jain staged a ‘dharna’ for repairing a road at Bhairavgarh area which housed a Jain temple, but did not do the same for the bharsmarti fee. He said although ministers, members of Parliament, MLAs and the mayor are members of the Mahakaleshwar Temple management committee, they are silent even though they did not agree with the implementation of the fee.
