Ujjain: Despite deteriorating health, All India Congress Committee member Noori Khan continued her fast-onto-death agitation on the second day on Sunday at Tower Chowk in support of one point demand of Kshipra’s purification.
A group of doctors conducted a health checkup of Noori Khan. After detecting low blood pressure, they advised hospitalisation. However, she refused. Khan said that the BJP government had spent crores of rupees in the name of Kshipra river purification, but the river still lacked flow of water. The water of Kshipra is not fit for drinking as sewage was being released in it, she alleged.
Former Union minister Suresh Pachauri reached the dharna site in the afternoon and talked with Noori Khan. Likewise, representatives of various social organisations sat at the protest site supporting the movement. Among them were Satya Narayan Purohit, Congress leader Batuk Shankar Joshi, Sultan Shah Lala, Ashok Sarwan, Vandana Mimrot, Sohan Rajput, corporator Gulnaz Khan, Pratik Jain and Rakesh Gausar.
