Ujjain: Congress leader blames EC for messy electoral rolls


Ujjain: Congress leader and corporator Maya Trivedi balamed election commission (EC) of messy voters list. She said that many voters’ names were printed in two or more different places in the lists while voters who left the city or who are no more were included in the lists.

Voters are unable to get themselves registered online as the portal is not working she added. Trivedi also demanded that the date for modification, deletion and addition of names of voters be extended.

Collector takes review meeting for election preparations


To ensure elections activities are carried out smoothly and meticulously collector Manish Singh convened a review meeting at Simahstha Fair Authority office on Thursday. He instructed the nodal officials, CEO Panchayat Sandeep GR, additional collector Deepak Arya, deputy district returning officer RP Verma and other concerned officials attending the meeting that carelessness will not be tolerated in performing electoral duties, and preparatory task should be completed with the time frame given.

He informed that review meetings will be held every Tuesday and Friday. He provided tips related with election preparations like, training, forming of teams, voter awareness, and communication plan, taking videos of critical incidents, EVM related tasks, setting up of polling booths, preparation of voter slips among others.

UMC to start removal of illegal cowshed after Shahi Sawari


Illegal cowsheds will be removed by Ujjain Municipal Corporation after Monday as the staffers will remain engaged in the preparations of Shahi Sawari of lord Mahakal till Monday. Deputy-commissioner Yogendra Patel informed that all the illegal cowsheds have been marked and UMC’s drive to make city free from stray cattle will continue.
