Ujjain: Collector asks banks to extend crop insurance scheme to every farmer

Ujjain: Collector Manish Singh held meeting with leading banks of city to chalk out a strategy to extend crop insurance scheme cover to maximum farmers before the January 15 deadline. During the meeting banks raised issue of non co-operation of Patwaris.

Singh later shared his mobile number with bank officials and asked them to contact him in case a patwari refuses to extend support. He said that crop insurance coverage should be taken up on priority and no farmer should be denied. He directed bankers to lend support to farmers in distress and help them in getting their crops insured fairly.

Manish Singh directed bank officials to cover defaulter farmers under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. Bank officials told him about unavailability of Aadhar Card with farmers and disputes arising out of death of old farmers among other issues. The bank officials were asked to receive phone calls as complaint about ICICI Lombard Company was put forth by several members.
